What's New

VaultSort now offers to do something useful the first time you open it. A dismissible panel appears at the bottom of the window offering to organize your Downloads folder in one click. It reads the folder before saying anything and stays away entirely unless there is something worth doing — at least five loose files across more than one type — and it tells you exactly what it found, so the offer is a promise about the next click rather than a guess. Undo sits beside the result as a full button, not a hint. It waits until the data-sharing prompt is out of the way, and once you dismiss it, it does not come back.

The in-app privacy policy has been corrected. It claimed VaultSort never collects file names or paths, that locally stored data is never transmitted, and it did not mention that opting out of analytics leaves the anonymous heartbeat running. Error reports do include the folder an error happened in — enough to say a failure was in Downloads, naming nobody — and the heartbeat sends app version, platform and a random device ID so active installations can be counted. That was already stated on the website; the copy inside the app now says the same thing. (Nothing about what is collected changed in this release — only the description of it, which was wrong.)
Fixed beta installs being told they already had the newest version when a newer beta was available, and the Beta download page offering the stable build instead. The update feed had been published from the wrong copy of the site, so it advertised 5.0.0 to everyone on the beta channel. (If you have been stuck on an older beta, this release is the one that unsticks it.)
