Hi everyone,
I want to share an important update about VaultSort and how it will be distributed going forward.
For a long time, VaultSort was available both on the Mac App Store and directly through https://vaultsort.com.
Unfortunately, the Mac App Store version has been stuck with several limitations due to Apple’s sandboxing requirements and some technical restrictions that prevent me from releasing new updates through the App Store. Because of this, the version on the Mac App Store has become outdated and is missing many of the new features, improvements, and fixes that are built into the full version of VaultSort.
What’s Changing
After careful consideration, I’ve made the decision to remove VaultSort from sale on the Mac App Store.
This change ensures that:
New users get the best possible experience with the full-featured, actively maintained version available at VaultSort.com
There’s no confusion between the limited App Store edition and the premium version
What This Means for Existing Mac App Store Customers
If you previously purchased VaultSort from the Mac App Store:
You will still be able to re-download your original purchase from your App Store “Purchased” tab.
The Mac App Store version will continue to work exactly as it does today, but it will no longer receive updates.
I want to support you as much as possible, so if you purchased the App Store version and want to switch to the full version on VaultSort.com, simply reply to this email with your App Store receipt. I’ll send you a significant discount as a thank-you for supporting the app early on.
Why Not Keep Both Versions?
I explored every option to keep the Mac App Store version updated, including multiple attempts to get new builds approved. Unfortunately, the current feature set cannot be provisioned for the Mac App Store, which makes updates impossible. Rather than leave an outdated product visible and cause confusion, removing it became the most responsible choice.
Moving Forward
The direct version of VaultSort is now the primary home for new features, improvements, and ongoing development. I’m excited to continue improving VaultSort at a much faster pace now that distribution is simplified.
If you have any questions, feel free to reply directly — I read every message.
Thank you for your understanding and for supporting VaultSort.
There’s a lot more coming soon.
