For a long time, the most common question in my inbox has been: "Will VaultSort ever run on my Intel Mac?"
Yes. Starting today, it does.
The latest beta is a single universal app that runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs, all the way back to macOS 12 Monterey. Same app, same features, same price. If you've been waiting on an older MacBook, iMac or Mac mini, this is your moment.

That alone would make this a big release. But it's not the only thing in this beta.

Send Securely: share sensitive files with anyone, no account needed
You need to send a tax return to your accountant. A signed lease to a landlord. A medical record to a family member. Email isn't safe for that, and making someone sign up for a sharing service just to open one file is a pain.
Send Securely fixes that. Pick your files, and VaultSort encrypts them for someone who doesn't even have VaultSort:
- A single PDF becomes a password-protected PDF that opens in Preview, Acrobat, any browser or a phone.
- Anything else (or several files with a note) becomes a secure page your recipient opens in their browser with the password.
- No server. No account. No upload. The encryption happens on your Mac, and the file never passes through anyone else's computers, ours included.
- VaultSort creates a strong passphrase for you, then helps you hand off the file by email, Share, or Finder.
Start it from the Protect tab, right after redacting a document, straight from your Vault, or by right-clicking files in Finder. Every copy of VaultSort includes 3 free sends to try it, and opening a sent file is always free.
Your Vault notes just got a lot more powerful
The Vault is where your most private things live, and its notes are now a proper place to keep them:
- π Protected notes that ask you to confirm it's you (password, security key or Touch ID) before they open.
- π Hidden secrets inside a note, with their own Copy button, so a recovery code never sits on screen in plain view.
- π Clipboard auto-clear: anything you copy out of the Vault is wiped from the clipboard after 30 seconds, and again when the Vault locks.
- π Version history: restore any earlier version of a note. You can even view your whole Vault as it was on any date.
- π Links between Vault items that keep working when you rename or move things.
- βοΈ Templates, undo and redo, keyboard shortcuts, and Markdown import, plus notes that open for reading so you can select and copy text.
The Vault also no longer locks itself while you're in the middle of reading a long note.
Duplicate Finder: faster, smarter, and it can't delete your last copy
We rebuilt the Duplicate Finder from the ground up:
- Up to nearly 3Γ faster on big folders, and it adapts how it reads to the kind of drive it's scanning, whether that's an SSD, a hard drive or a network share.
- Far more accurate similar-image matching. In our tests, the matches it finds went from 16% correct to 99.6%, including copies of a photo that were rotated.
- A side-by-side compare view for similar images, so you can see exactly what you're keeping.
- New auto-select rules, like "keep the copies in this folder", that make cleaning up thousands of duplicates a two-click job.
- A hard safety guarantee: VaultSort now checks before every removal that at least one copy of each file is kept. It can't delete your last copy.

A few beta notes: the on-device AI features (Smart Categorize and AI-powered category suggestions) need an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later. Everything else works on Intel. Once you use note version history or the view-by-date feature, older versions of VaultSort can't open that Vault, so keep VaultSort up to date on every Mac you use it on.
